NOTE: All Model A viewers warped shortly after production. Subsequent Model A versions unsuccessfully attempted to resolve this issue, which was only resolved with the introduction of the Model B. Each version of the Model A viewers are offered by 3Dstereo in one of two conditions:
- warped but reel will advance by pulling advance lever
- warped and reel will NOT advance by pulling advance lever, thus requiring some assistance from ones finger to move it along
Look for advance info: "Good Advance" or "Poor Advance"

Composite Plastic manufactured c.1940-1941, it is the second issue viewer. The second generation viewer came in a soft cardboard box that was gold with blue.
The viewer has minor warpage, which is so typical of the material used. It closes and opens but does not advance a reel through it. The lenses are larger than subsequent viewers and it has the nickname of "bug-eye" viewer.Â
