View-Master® Model A Viewer [unwarped]
vintage - standard lens
Condition: excellent - NO WARPING - with Original Library Box and Accompanying papers
Composite Plastic manufactured c.1940-1941, it is the third issue viewer. Early third generation viewers still were sold in a soft cardboard box that was gold with blue (rarly found intact). Later, the third generation viewers were sold of stury two piece boxes.
Almost all Model A viewers have minor to severe warpage, which was practically universal, due to the material used (the reason that a Model B was developed and produced so quickly after all efforts to stop warping failed). In the past 6 decades, about 6 were found without warping (that's about one in 75 viewers extant). This Model A viewer offered here has no warping.
NOTE: All Model A viewers warped shortly after production. All subsequent versions unsuccessfully attempted to resolve this issue, which was only resolved with the introduction of the Model B.
