Visit the 1960s Sunken Gardens in St. Petersburg, Florida. Originally in 1935 as Turners Sunken Gardens. Reopened in 2000 by the City of St. Petersburg. The opportunity of restoring the gardens and creating a city park. To raise the appropriate amount of funds a referendum vote was needed in 1999 that allowed the city to purchase the property. See:
