Revere/Wollensak Custom Stereo Film Camera - vintage

wo Chicago, Illinois companies coordinated their products successfully in the 1950 and 1960s. Revere produced cameras featuring lenses made by Wollensak. And after commercial success with the Revere Stereo Camera , Wollensak decided to market a camera with their brand. Revere produced a special body for the Wollensak Stereo Camera (identical to the Revere except for the new leatherette covering).
Wollensak had installed in their new cameras a superior lens and shutter combination, better than the fine lens and shutter they were producing for the Revere cameras. The lens and shutter assembly was interchangeable in the identical Revere and Wollensak camera bodies. Here a previous owner had performed the not uncommon installation of the superior Wollensak lens and shutter assembly into a Revere camera body.
The result is a highest quality Wollensak stereo camera clothed in a Revere camera body.
Statistically the Revere/Wollensak has super fast f2.7 Amaton anastigmat lenses, and a wider range of shutter speeds: T, B, 1/2 second to a fast 1/300 second, while retaining all the other features of a Revere stereo camera.
The lens/shutter with was a way to create the high quality featured camera a Wollensak at a cost saving price. That same cost savings carries on.
