Earlier, non coin-op Sculptoscopes were produced. This
offering is a Coin-Op Table Top Viewer, designed to take pennies.
Circular glass windows on each side permitted viewing
light to enter viewer.
On the right front side of viewer, there is a handle (grip)
and a trigger. Squeezing the trigger advances internal
roller to next viewFor one penny, sixteen pulls are
permitted (title card and 15 views, before penny drops
in box, ready for next viewer. A total of six sets of 15
views are held in viewer at a time (96).
In the 1920s many view card sets were offered by Whiting
and others were available from Ingersoll.
Usually displayed for POP use in and on local store
counters. The title card often promoted patronage of
the very establishment where positioned.
Patent dates are inscribed on on brass escutcheon
for coin slot.
Key to viewer is not included. Inside viewer there are
many contemporary views, and there is at least
one original Whiting title card. When penny is inserted
and trigger pulled, internal viewer roller advances
signifying viewer to be in functioning condition
although, now over a century old, no warranties
come with this purchases.
Viewer appears in all original condition, but
inspect all images carefully to make your determinations..
