NOTE: Stereo-Matic 500 Projectors were produced in only one model, but with a choice of one of three different non-interchangeable lens sets. Projectors were available with either:
--Somoco f3.0, 3 inch FL lenses;
--Wollensak f3.0, 3 inch FL lenses; or
--Somoco f3.0, 2-1/4 inch FL lenses.
This projector is the Somoco f3.0, 2-1/4 inch FL f3.0 model, considered the best of the projectors, due its brighter image made posiible by its 2-1/4 lenses.
Not only perfect for personal home use, but the choice for classroom or theatre projection.
WHAT DOES "LATE MODEL PRODUCTION" MEAN?
Serial number 10005, the projector is distinctive in its grey, one color crinkle paint finish on both projector and case. More significantly the later production models included the electrical cords that did not deteriorate. (cord is included - no need for repalcement cord)
Like all Sawyer's Stereo Projectors offered by 3Dstereo, this projector is professionally cleaned and adjusted, modernized with new polarizing filters installed, as well as the extremely important replacement of the internal mirrors with brand new mirrors for a significantly brighter image on the screen. These mirrors are the same extra, extra thin mirrors as the originals, and are available only from 3Dstereo.
Additionally the projector is modernized with a new technology projection bulb, a 500 watt halogen bulb. The new halogen bulbs feature 4 times more life than the old incandescent bulbs (100 hours compared to 25); no drop in color temperature as the bulb ages, maintaining high Kelvin temperature white daylight light; and most importantly the halogen bulb provides 20% more lumens (brightness) at the same 500 watt (heat) output.
Also, importantly, the condensing lenses of the projector are the original heat protected lenses, and not one of the replacement non-heat protected lenses being marketed as a replacement. To this day no suitable replacement for these lenses have been found.
All these upgrades, plus a copy of the original instructions are included in the price (the upgrades and modernizations, purchased separately, sell for almost $100 before considering any installation costs)
