Stubbs lives with his wife, Muriel, in the Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs housing project, (based on the Cabrini-green Projects in Chicago)
where he is the superintendent. This animated comedy follows the adventures of the Subbs and their friends, while taking a satirical view of the ups and downs of life in a big-city housing project.

The PJs, premiered on Fox with record-breaking ratings for the network and was picked up for a second season with an order of 22 episodes, moving to The WB Network for its third and final season. The PJs had the distinction of being the largest project in the history of television stop-motion animation.
The show won three Emmy's and director Mark Gustafson won an Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Directing, as well.
