Banana slugs are gastropods, a subgroup of mollusks,
and often bright yellow. They live one to seven years,
are about six inches long and have two pairs of tentacles
to sense their environment. They move about six inches
per minute. Dehydration is a mejor problem, so banana
slug excrete a thick coating of mucus around their bodies
to protect themselves. The banana slug is the mascot of
the University of California, Santa Cruz.
