Antonio Gaudi (1852-1926) was born in Catalonia, Spain, the son of a coppersmith. Trained
as an architect, his residential and colorful decoration, and daring structural innovation.
Park Guell, commissioned in 1900 by Gaudi's lifelog patron Eusebio Guell, was the architect's unique venture into urban design. The garden city included 60 potential building lost and an assortmnet
of park structures that conformed to the topography of the Barcelona hillside. Only three resident
were completed:
two gate lodges, and a hose in which the architect lived until 1925. After Eusebio Guells death, the property was transferred to municipal ownership for use as public park.
