Often considered an alternative format to the much more common 41mm x101mm mount used for 1950s stereo cameras, such as the Stereo Realist and Kodak Stereo cameras.
And once relegated to only mounting images produced by beam spliters attached to conventional 35mm cameras and producing a stereo pair of images on a 24mm x 36mm area on 35mm film (each image next to each other, each approx. 18mm wide). But now, today, the 2inch x 2inch stereo mount has become more popular as it is used for mounting images produced on slide film by Nimslo, Image Tech, and Nishika stereo cameras, as well as images produced on slide film by the Loreo, Vivitar, and Argus point and shoot stereo cameras now available.
Vintage viewers were made for 2inch x 2inch stereo slide viewing by: Steitz, Pentax, Stereo-Tach, Addisco, Sun Optical, Zeiss, Leica, Ihagee, and many others.
