Sauropods had very long necks, long tails, small heads (relative to the rest of their body) and four thick, pillar-like legs. The group includes the largest animals to have ever lived on land. Argentinosaurus, measuring over 100 feet long and weighing up to 100 tons, was one of the Titanosaurs, the dominant Sauropod group of the Cretaceous period. Giraffatitan, another Titanosaurs, was the largest known dinosaurs during most of the 20th Century. Diplodocus, Apatosaurus and Camarasaurus are North American Sauropods found in the Morrison Formation of the late Jurassic period.
